Nicely done! A well animated, funny idea, clearly expressed. Only thing I felt it could've done with was a little more 'punch' after he gets sucked in, like some kind of reaction from the machine. Perhaps the money counter could have pinged up to '0.50' after he got sucked in, just before 'the end'. But otherwise, really nice job.
A reasonably well done animation...
I appreciate you taking time to talk about interesting topics, however I disagree with your message entirely.
Show me evidence of a spiritual or thought realm. How do you know that we all "share" in a thought and that it's not all just separate? Evidence would actually suggest that there's not even separation between mind and body. As the physical brain dies, the mind also seems to die. There's no such thing as the soul.
Here's something perhaps to read on Emoto: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaru_E moto
If I can tell what someone is going to say or do, this is my physical brain doing what it does best - pattern finding. Sometimes it sees patterns where there are none, but by coincidence they turn out to be right. Sometimes the pattern is there, and the brain is locates it.
There are other forms of communication that are physical, but not verbal. There is no evidence of any kind of "spiritual" connection.
Some things are within my control. Some things are beyond my control. Bad things happen to people with the right attitude. Good things happen to people with the wrong attitude. The right attitude might increase your odds, but you can still be screwed over. It's a very American view of the world. I'd suggest watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5um8Q WWRvo
Delusion is bad. Realism is good. I'd like to hear what you think about this.
Delusion isn't bad, it's just a natural part of our evolution at this point in time. Ever since the last pole shift, we dropped in consciousness and lost everything. Because of this, we've been scrounging for true answers and meaning for the last 13,000 years. However, were hitting another turning point for our civilization, and were about to understand what we have long forgotten.
Many of your questions and comments will be discussed in future videos :) Thanks for the review!
Great art, but the rest...
The idea was that this was funny. I didn't smile through the whole thing. Perhaps this is some deficiency on my part. But I'm not going to rate this highly if it fails to achieve its basic aim (at least for me). I'm not bothered about the 'racism' (if it even is there in the first place). I'm not bothered about immaturity or dick jokes. I just didn't find it funny.
You get two stars for artistic merit and sheer effort. I also liked the brutal achievements. I guess my suggestion for improvement would be to be more self-critical and cut stuff that doesn't really work. Though I may just not be the intended audience.
This turned out really well! Aside from potential compression problems with the audio (which I presume will be fixed fairly soon), everything ran smoothly. Look forward to doing something like this again sometime soon!
It was good, but there were some flaws
First, I'd like to say that your use of angles is good (though somewhat excessive, almost to the point of dizzyness), your drawing style is good and your animation is good. There are several areas in this, which are not so good:
1. Music: Really, really painful at times. I would seriously recommend getting someone else to do the music. It just didn't suit the piece.
2. Pacing: Much too slow. The entire plot and message could have been conveyed in 1-2 minutes and your story would have been far more effective for it. You don't need to show every detail of every character's actions, movements or emotions.
3. The characterisation/voice acting: The grunts got really annoying and were far too obvious. You can get a hell of a lot more meaning from non-verbal communication than: "I'm annoyed" "I'm happy". The part where the girl did a series of motions to convey something before they entered the restaurant was so unclear that it was almost comedic. I didn't empathise with any of the characters. Also, if you are going to use proper words, use them throughout. If you want to do the grunting thing, do that throughout. Don't have characters who do both.
Overall, I think that the problem could be that you are overthinking it. Try to simplify your ideas and I'm sure we'll see a massive improvement. I'm looking forward to seeing something that takes all of the advice into account.
Well, I actually like it for its length. I'm really not the kind of guy who likes stupid short animations, so many other people do it that it's maddening. I'm sorry you didn't get into it, but I wouldn't change a minute of it. I did everything according to what I thought would be good, and it turned out well in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter, though.
Had a problem with audio - I think I know why
Right, well I think the problem is to do with the adverts on the first page. I tried reloading, and giving it time to load, but that didn't work. Only when I clicked "play" before the advert had loaded did I get audio. I think it was one of those ads that tries to have sound but doesn't for Cilit Bang or something like that. Anyway, funny cartoon and I hope this helps others...
Hmm... you know, you may be on to something. That may explain why some people can watch it fine while others cannot, and why some who couldn't get it working at first got it working later. Cuz I know I've never run into this problem before now. Hm. Thanks for that, man, I'll have to mention that in the description.
Seriously, it should've ended...
...exactly as you ended it, with a fade to black. Then a half-second shot of him eating her flesh. And that's why you don't go out with someone who pretends that they are making love with an invisible date.
But in all seriousness, it was really good. Well animated, with decent, readable characters. The only slight issue I noticed was a bit of feet sliding on the ground during the walk cycle. But other than that, really great.
Deliciously dark humour. Wonderful, expressive, interesting character designs. Animation that captivates and is somewhat unique. A concept that is both complex and (this one is hardest to achieve) clear to the viewer. The sound and music suited this movie perfectly. I loved the fact that you didn't have to explicitly state the meaning through reams and reams of exposition. I read the 'terms and conditions' and they were well thought out and funny. There's just so much detail in this piece.
My favourite moment is when the guy is weighing the corpse and he removes the hat and the scales move down slightly. Just excellent. One thing which I am not sure of (due to reading one of your own comments) is the part where he cuts a slice of flesh off of the pig - I initially thought that this was like him getting the pig hooked on the drug: providing him with the slot into which the money goes. After reading your comments, it just seems like you intended it to be a type of punishment. Ah well.
OH! Another thing: the sea of fat was pure genius. Keep making such great stuff! (easier said than done I suppose)
A missed opportunity...
Fairly good animation, but I feel as thought it should have ended with her killing "the lady" and then it fading back to reality and on the floor there being like a corpse if a little girl or something, and the woman would have the bloody mop in hand...
not a bad idea at all.
Very good art, my friend. The only substantial thing you need to work on is your animation. I think you should just practice doing various movements with basic sticks. It probably wouldn't take you too long to really get good. And then you could be a truly great animator. The only other thing that could be worked on is the sound effects.
